Question About Islam
Wanted to ask everyone if they maybe know of any good resources or information online related to Islam. I would like to find something that is preferably unbiased and would like something that can help explain the different branches of Islam a little bit better. I’ve been trying to study a lot more about Islam but am having a hard time finding information that I feel like I can trust instead of just propaganda. Anyone have any suggestions?

Egyptian Christians sentenced to death for anti-Islam film →
“The seven accused persons were convicted of insulting the Islamic religion through participating in producing and offering a movie that insults Islam and its prophet,” Judge Saif al-Nasr Soliman said.
The crude, low-budget video, produced privately in California, denigrated the Prophet Mohammad and triggered anti-U.S. protests and attacks on Western embassies around the Muslim world.
As if there hasn’t been enough bloodshed over this stupid film we now have Egypt openly calling for murder of those that practice free speech to speak out against Islam. From the times of the revolution in Egypt I started to worry that maybe the conservative side of things could be right for a change, maybe Egypt really would descend in to an Islamic theocracy. The stories that I have continually seen coming out of Egypt worry me that those predictions are coming true and that we will only continue to see more of this.

We should all always remember this and this is why we will never and should never have any anti-blasphemy laws in this country. This whole controversy has been a tragedy with so many lives lost but that does not mean that we should surrender our freedom of speech, our freedom to criticize, and our freedom to blaspheme.

This is a very sad story and goes to show that even if the events in Libya were planned by Al-Qaeda as a front to commit terrorist acts that there is real unrest in the world over this “film”. It is extremely sad that people lose their life over this film, but what is even more sad is that people have this type of reaction.

Somali comedian who mocked Islamists is shot dead →
Abdi Jeylani Marshale is said to have been shot in the head and chest as he left a radio station in Mogadishu
One of Somalia’s most popular comedians, known for his parodies of Islamist militants, has been shot dead in the capital, Mogadishu.
Abdi Jeylani Marshale was reportedly killed shortly after leaving a local radio station where he worked as a drama producer and performer.
It is not known who carried out the murder but last year Marshale was threatened by the extremist group al-Shabaab, prompting him to go into hiding in neighbouring Somaliland for several days.
Witnesses told the BBC that Marshale was shot several times in the head and chest by two men armed with pistols. The gunmen have not been caught.
This is how Islamic extremists attempt to get the rest of the world to “respect” Islam.
