Remember that many Christians only turn to the bible as justification for something when it fails to be justifiable through any normal, rational, or intellectual means.

For the third day in a row the local news channel posted a story on Facebook about Chick-fil-a and for the third day in a row the homophobes come out in droves to comment on it. It is beyond frustrating to read the comments.

I just came across this video on youtube but from the description it sounds pretty bad. I am not at all surprised though that Christian families would send their problem children off to a foreign country to be abused and “corrected” by someone they don’t know. It is so much easier for them than having to talk to their children or learn to accept differences after all. From the video description:
Kidnapped for Christ follows the stories of several American teenagers who were sent to Escuela Caribe, an American-run Evangelical Christian reform school in The Dominican Republic.
Right now we seeking funding to complete editing the film. As soon as we have more details regarding the release of the film we will post them kidnappedforchrist.com.
You can help us finish the film and advocate for the rights of teenagers who are sent to boarding schools like Escuela Caribe by making a tax-deductible donation to our IndieGoGo Campaign here: http://www.indiegogo.com/Kidnapped-For-Christ?a=251558

Random fact: In countries where they don’t have sheep the missionaries are told to pick whatever the most prized and cherished livestock animal is in the area. So in some countries instead of the “lamb of god” you could be referred to as the “swine of god” and have it be considered a good thing.

Have to post it for the rant. Plus as a point of reference. I can understand not wanting to be called a bigot, nobody wants to be called something derogatory but it is appropriate when it fits that view. As I tried to say if he absolutely must maintain that opinion he can, no one can force someone else to change their mind against their will but he should at least be able to recognize it as a bigoted view point.
I do definitely understand there are times I come off a little arrogant. I don’t think this particular time was too bad but perhaps. My girlfriend always used to tell me “You always want to be right don’t you?” to which I’d reply “Of course, who wants to be wrong?” When the discussion has such a clear cut and simple answer with no real valid detracting points, it’s hard not to get a little arrogant with it when it drags out so long.

Good news everybody, I was just informed by nikitoblogs that telling someone that they are wrong for who they are and how they were born doesn’t mean you’re against them! It can actually mean you even support them. It’s the new Christian logic. “I’ll just tell myself silently how wrong they are, but can’t let others see that…must pretend to be tolerant and accepting.”
