My son asked me the other day rather innocently “Dad, what does G-O-D spell?” I asked him why he wanted to know and he said he saw it on the wall of a room he was in the other day. So I told him it spells “god” and of course received the inevitable follow up question any 5 year old unfamiliar with the subject would ask, “What is god?”
I had to put him on hold for a minute to talk with my girlfriend to see if she was okay with me talking about the subject to him. We basically have the same view point but she sometimes dislikes how anti-religion I can be. I had already known for a while I wanted to try to structure the conversation as neutral as possible. So I told him “Well…there are some people that believe the whole world all around us and all of space was created by one special thing that they call ‘god’.”
He had a perplex look on his face for a moment well he thought over what I said and then got a glimpse of understanding as he asked “You mean, kind of like a fairy?” I couldn’t help but laugh and smile, I told him yeah, kind of like a fairy. I think that’s as good of an explanation as any for now.

If even a 5 year old thinks it sounds like a stupid idea, chances are it’s a really stupid idea.

I just found out the author of “Where The Wild Things Are”, Maurice Sendak, is an Atheist. I feel as if my childhood is coming full circle. I have been contemplating getting a tattoo of my favorite of the wild things from that book for years now and I think with this new information it has clinched it for me. I will post a picture of it whenever it happen but may not be for a while still. Plus my son loves the book too, it is one of his favorite bedtime stories.

Anyone familiar with the movie “Jesus Camp” knows exactly what kind of disturbing person Becky Fischer is. Literally abusing children in the name of her “holy crusade”. I had a friend send this video to me of her working with children in Singapore and teaching them how to “raise the dead”. She at one point actually tells the children that she has seen children pray for recently deceased pets and they actually come back to life.
This woman travels the world and makes tons of money to torture and lie to little children. She should be considered a criminal and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near children. This type of abuse is more common than most people realize in the United States. Many bible camps across the country are just as horrible, she is just willing to put her face out there and unashamedly lie, abuse, and brain wash impressionable young children entrusted to her care.

(Waits for the almost inevitable hate mail this will garnish)
Religious indoctrination is very often abuse. There are a great many children that are traumatized and tormented because of the things they’re force into with religion. At it’s worst it inflicts mental trauma that is carried with people their entire life. It is severely disturbing.
