I had someone submit this to me over the weekend. It’s no big surprise to me that the people most hostile to science are often the most ignorant of it. They tend to be religious more often than not and will often show their generous “Christian” spirit in the tone they use when discussing science. Wishing death upon educated people for the “crime” of being smarter than them is a classic religious tactic. They don’t like being challenged and made to think.
The whole discussion of “something from nothing” is something that has bothered me a lot recently. The idiot puppet boy Kirk Cameron likes to parrot how it’s a “scientific impossibility” for something to come from nothing. They say that “God” is somehow an escape from this problem. That he provides an answer, which is a ridiculous load of bull shit if I’ve ever heard it.
The universe is either infinite in it’s existence or it is not. All indications currently suggest that the universe did have a definite start. A series of events where nothing existed one moment and soon after a universe was springing out. That means that something HAD to come from nothing. That there had to be a point where previously there was nothing and up popped something.
If we can agree to this we find that the religious explanation is absolutely no explanation at all. Saying that “God did it” provides no answer but only more questions. Where did God get this material? How come he is immune to this state of nothing existing? How is he able to make materials exist? Religion provides absolutely no answer to this and doesn’t even hope to. They have no possible chance of being able to provide adequate answers to these questions.
Science is the only one looking for a real answer to what is looking more and more like the only possible explanation for the start of the universe. Science will continue to speculate and search for any possible information that will help us better understand. Someday we may be able to say we fully understand the first moments of our universe and how it came about. I would be willing to bet anything when the answer comes it’s not going to be some mysterious entity that cares in any way about us, it’s going to be a natural scientific explanation.
In the mean time, leave the scientists to their studies. We’re not going to start witch trials again. Even mentioning death is about as low as it can possibly go. Especially considering far more people will mourn the loss of a brilliant man like Stephen Hawking than this random Facebook asshole.
Didn’t got just basically point at nowhere and shit happened, according to the bible? ‘Spontaneous creation’ exists in...
