true-crime-101 asked: What do you consider yourself conservative on?
It is hard to say really, I don’t consider myself very conservative on many issues but the fact that I sometime divert from the very liberal side of things makes it seem as if I’m not really on that side. For example I consider myself entirely pro-choice, but I do feel that there should be at least some form of limitation. I feel that after 20 weeks of pregnancy there should be a medical necessity or some other extenuating circumstance, this seems to be in conflict with people that fully support abortion on demand at any time. I feel that Saddam Hussein did need to be removed from power, I don’t agree with the way the conflict in Iraq played out but I do feel that something needed to be done. This seems to conflict with people who feel war is never the answer under any circumstances, regardless of how many civilians are being killed in a mass genocide.
I think one of the most controversial things I disagree on is the French and Danish burqa ban which I fully support. I discussed the topic a great deal in the past and will likely be prompted to explain myself again. I do feel strongly about women’s rights but people still feel the fact that I support this means I’m automatically a misogynist, even though the vast majority of Europeans polled on this issue agree with it. I have my reasons as well and I feel that they are logical and rational, I do my best to consider all factors that I can. I understand when people disagree with my point of view, it is going to happen. I just have an issue when people use that as a reason to dismiss me as invalid in all aspects and not worthy of being spoken to. If people want to live in an echo chamber I can’t stop them, but I don’t want to become part of a herd mentality no matter what.
