Due to constant misunderstanding with my name I feel the need to change my intro. I am hateful, hateful of religion. I hate what religion does to people and that people use it as an excuse to not think. I have spent many years of my life as an Atheist and have learned to handle my emotions, but no other word quite describes how I feel towards religion short of hate. I am outspoken, open minded, and will share my opinion. If you're looking for someone who will always agree with you, that won't be me.

Question with 11 notes

foodieamazon asked: Hey, I find your blog interesting, but as for your statement, I hope you realize that being a middle-class white male automatically removes you from certain conversations. Don't get angry if a group of minorities wants to just vent and have a safe space moment--just acknowledge your privilege and keep quiet. You need to realize that a lot of the minorities who ~exclude~ you from certain conversations do so because on a larger panel, your opinion as a white male is more valued than theirs is :/

See and this is something I can not and do not agree with that I often hear from the liberal side. I can understand when talking about issue that directly affect minority groups that hearing from that minority group is more important because it impacts them directly but that does not mean that I can not and do not have an opinion on the topic. Why is that simply because of who I am that I should be forced out of a conversation? Why is it I am not even allowed to ask questions or pose issues in order to get a response and better understand? I’m not saying it’s other people’s job to educate me, but isn’t exploring and discussing ideas how we all become better informed and grow as people?

I don’t jump in to minority conversation usually, I honestly prefer to sit back and listen but why should I be forced to be completely silent? That is utterly ridiculous. I understand that I have privilege in society but that’s why it is privilege, I never asked for it. To say simply because I am a white male I can not say anything at all is to invalidate me as an individual and not recognize that I am equal person capable of expressing views and opinions. I understand that in minority issues my views may not be as relevant and coming from a place of privilege but I do my best to recognize that and take it in to account whenever I do attempt to comment.

So basically I understand that this is liberal mindset but this is one thing that really stands out to me as completely ridiculous. I’m not attempting to shut anyone up or invalidate their view based on any factor, I don’t feel that it should be done to me.
